I hope 2017 is treating you all well so far! Here are a few articles and reviews that I have had published lately but didn't post about yet.
First off, I take a look back at 10 of my favorite pop culture memories from 2016 for That's Not Current, along with several other contributing writers. Next up is another collection of favorites; this time Diabolique Magazine writers discuss our favorite films of the past year.
For Gruesome Magazine, I have reviewed, along with other titles, the fantastic eighties supernatural horror homage The Barn, filmmaker Isaac (The Similars) Ezban's debut film The Incident, and the clever horror short Creatures of Whitechapel, in which Victor Frankenstein and Jack the Ripper cross paths.
My recent output for That's Not Current includes an interview with artist and musician Joe Badon and a review of The Giant Spider, Christopher R. Mihm's low-budget valentine to 1950s creature features.
Diabolique Magazine has published two items of mine this month: an article about Brian De Palma's Dressed to Kill and how it influenced me as a teenaged film fan, and a review of the recent Australian chiller Observance.
Finally, I kicked the new year off at When It Was Cool with a review of the classic Gold Key Comics one-shot King Kong.
I wrote well over 100 articles last year these and other sites and publications. Join me in 2017 as I am currently on track to meet or surpass last year's amount. I hope you'll find that the quality exceeds the quantity, as well.
